Working at Goodwin


Goodwin is the premier provider of aged care in the ACT. We are a community based, not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation. We employ over 300 people who enjoy working in a caring home-like environment. We hold open days to show you the quality Goodwin has to offer. Goodwin assists our elderly residents and clients with their daily living activities that they may not be able to do so well themselves. Our Mission is to provide quality care and support to aged people to enable them to live with dignity and independence. Some of the things we do include:

Goodwin recognises and values the benefits of having a highly trained and skilled workforce and was rewarded by being a  finalist in the 2007 Ministers Award for Excellence in Training. Some of the training and learning opportunities at Goodwin include:

  • A comprehensive orientation and induction program that includes buddy shifts and rotations throughout Goodwin
  • Regular OH&S Training in the vital areas of Manual Handling, Fire and Emergencies, Infection Control, Food Safety and others 
  • Monthly In-Service training to inform and update your skills and knowledge 
  • Apprenticeships, Traineeships and Scholarships are available 
  • Formal courses in Aged Care, Workplace Training and Assessment, OHS, and others can be accessed through Goodwin 
  • TV training broadcasts by the Aged Care Channel can be viewed live or watched on DVD 
  • Goodwin-specific training courses are held regularly in particular areas of importance 
  • Mentoring is available from Goodwin’s very experienced and knowledgeable Senior Managers
